The rod should consist of non- absorptive; clinically safe material for subdermal implantation. The implants should be active for a period of 3 years after insertion. 1. The expiry date should not be less than 5 years from the date of manufacture. 2. A disposable sterile trocar should be available for each set. 3. The trocar barrel should be made of surgical grade stainless steel. The length of the barrel should be approx. 7.3cm with two marks at 1cm and 5.4cm from the tip. The inner diameter of the trocar should accommodate implant rod. 4. The bevel of the trocar should be razor sharp, ‘V’ shaped with an angle of 20-30 degrees, so that the trocar could be inserted directly through the skin without making an incision with the scalpel. 5.
